Who Are We?

The Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is a school of instruction using 29 degrees, or dramatic   presentations, to expand the candidate's knowledge of our fraternity. These dramas focus on Masonic values,   morality, ethics, principles, practices, and philosophy. With this expanded understanding of the fraternity, members   are encouraged to exert their best efforts to improve themselves, their families, and their communities.

Scottish Rite provides a friendly environment for Freemasons to develop leadership skills by active participation in   all aspects of these dramatic presentations. One can also progress through the four officer lines in each Valley and   serve on philanthropic foundations. It is in the forefront of the fraternity in providing college scholarships and   fellowships, and in teaching kids to speak through its Childhood Language Disorders Clinics & Programs.

Philosophically, the organization supports public schools, the use of the English language in our public endeavors,   and the complete separation of church and state. It observes the traditional Masonic prohibition against the   discussion of partisan political and sectarian religious subjects within the Lodge. Scottish Rite is more aggressive   than the other units of the fraternity in encouraging its members to become informed and to be active as individual in   these important areas of life. The ideals taught in the 29 degrees encourage initiates to have a greater impact on their   community and their country.

Members who are active in the organization or in the pursuit of the principals of the organization in fraternal,   governmental, educational, religious, or commercial arenas are eligible for election to the Court of Honor as 32°   Knights Commander, 33° Inspectors General Honorary, or 33° Grand Cross.
